PHOTOS: Occupy Lincoln Center
Occupy Wall Street held a protest at New York’s Lincoln Center the night of December 1, 2011. The plaza of Lincoln Center was closed off to protesters early on. That night, Philip Glass’s “Satyagraha” opera (about the life of Gandhi, no less) was being performed — and as people left from the Met, police tried to get them to leave from side exits, but many didn’t.
Everyone protesting outside of the barricades asked them to come down to the steps. Police tried to get people to keep leaving, but the theater-goers slowly made their way down to the barricades. At one point, everyone listened to Philip Glass speak (will post video of that in a bit). Many artists and musicians were in the crowd, and people stayed until about 1AM, at which point people went home for the night.
UPDATE: Here is the video I took at the protest, including the Philip Glass speech.
Here’s the best of the photos I took — the entire set is available/sharable from my Flickr page.

This is really fascinating. I would love to hear the Philip Glass speech! Also, the thing about Lou Reed and Laurie...
